Colour of cat and dog registration tags
Local governments are advised that the Minister for Local Government’s order, dated 8 October 2018, specifying the colour of the registration tags for cats and dogs for the next 16 registration periods was published in the Government Gazette Issue No. 156 (p. 4096) on 16 October 2018. A copy of the Notice of the order is attached.
The designated colours of the registration tags — red, blue, green and yellow — form a four-year cycle. In keeping with the cycle, the designated colour for each of the following registration periods is outlined below. Lifetime registration tags remain orange.

- 31 October 2022 Yellow
- 31 October 2023 Red
- 31 October 2024 Blue
- 31 October 2025 Green
- 31 October 2026 Yellow
- 31 October 2027 Red
- 31 October 2028 Blue
- 31 October 2029 Green
- 31 October 2030 Yellow
- 31 October 2031 Red
- 31 October 2032 Blue
- 31 October 2033 Green
- 31 October 2034 Yellow
- 31 October 2035 Red
- 31 October 2036 Blue
- 31 October 2037 Green

COLOUR OF CAT AND Doc REGISTRATION TAGS
The Minister for Local Government hereby orders, under regulation 15(3) of the Cat Regulations 2012 and section 18(2) of the Dog Act 1976, that the colour specified in the following table for a registration period shall be the colour of registration tags issued, under section 11(1) of the Cat Act 2011 and section 16(6) of the Dog Act 1976, for that period.
