Western Australia’s premier contemporary music conference received $200,000 from the Contemporary Music Fund to support its continued success over three years.

WAMCon is an annual event providing important professional development and mentorship opportunities to Western Australian music industry professionals.

The conference is made up of panels, masterclasses, workshops and other events to assist emerging local music professionals to network with industry experts and progress their careers.

WAMCon is presented by peak industry body West Australian Music each year as part of WAMFest, a festival celebrating local original music. The 2019 conference was held from 1 to 2 November at the State Theatre Centre of WA’s Studio Underground.

West Australian Music will publish a report detailing key issues in the industry for Western Australian musicians based on findings from the conference. The sector will be invited to provide feedback.

Mentoring is a key part of the Contemporary Music Fund. Along with other initiatives, the fund will deliver $3 million into the State's contemporary music sector over four years.
