Robinson Reserve upgrade
The redevelopment of Robinson Reserve in the City of Stirling is transforming the local community.
The successful implementation of stage one of the Robinson Reserve Master Plan is now complete, and the city is now progressing with stage two of the project in the 2021-22 annual budget.
Robinson Reserve is a seven-hectare reserve, adjacent to the Osborne Community Hub and bound by Royal, Park and Waterloo Streets in Tuart Hill. The reserve is classified as a district open space and provides valuable sporting and recreational opportunities for the community.
The reserve is home to the Osborne Park Agricultural Society, Osborne Park Cricket Club and Osborne Park Football Club all who use the reserve for various community sport and community events throughout the year.
The redevelopment was funded in 2019 by the State Government ($1.5 million) and the City of Stirling ($615,000), which enabled the construction of:
- additional park furniture such as shelters, barbecues and seating
- new path network
- new shaded playground
- new perimeter park fencing
- additional car parking facilities
- new skate and scooter elements
- new basketball/netball half court facilities
- improved landscaping.
As part of stage two, the city is undertaking a $1.2 million upgrade of the existing sporting club room facilities, cricket nets and pathway connections. Construction is scheduled to commence in 2022.
The State Government recently contributed $50,000 through an election commitment to the project for ‘out of scope’ items, such as loose furniture and other fit out items.
