Flying of flags for Australian Citizenship Day
Day of National Celebration, Friday 17 September 2021
This year marks the 20th anniversary of Australian Citizenship Day.
Citizenship Day is an opportunity for all Australians to celebrate the peaceful, prosperous and inclusive society we share and to reflect on the role we each play in building our nation and shaping our country's future, as proud Australian citizens.
In accordance with flag protocol, State Government departments and agencies are requested to fly or display the Australian National Flag on Friday 17 September 2021 to celebrate Citizenship Day. Local governments, as well as non-government organisations, are also welcome to participate.
The protocols for flying the Australian National Flag can be found in part 2 in the Australian Flags booklet.
