It’s show time: bigger and better FRINGE returns to WA
The FRINGE WORLD Festival will return in 2022 bigger and better than ever, with the State Government providing a significant funding boost.
The 2022 festival, which will run from January 14 to February 13, will be the third largest FRINGE in the world, with hundreds of thousands of people expected to binge on a bonanza of Western Australian creative and artistic talent.
The State Government will provide, through Lotterywest, $3.6 million to FRINGE over the next three years to help support the event and the establishment of a new free community event: the FRINGE Sunday Funday supported by Lotterywest.
The FUNDAY will be a key opening event on the first Sunday (January 16) of FRINGE WORLD and is expected to attract 30,000 people.
The State Government will also provide an additional $1.3 million through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries for the 2022 Festival.
The DLGSC Getting the Show Back on the Road+ program will deliver $1 million to FRINGE artists affected by 2021 COVID-19 disruptions. In total, 235 events were impacted and DLGSC will contact the independent artists directly about payments.
Since 1994, Lotterywest has provided more than $13.1 million to ARTRAGE, which runs the FRINGE WORLD Festival.
