Funding helps local communities play and participate
Sporting facilities across Perth and regional Western Australia will benefit from the latest round of community sport facility and lighting grants.
The Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF) helps develop sustainable infrastructure for sport and recreation across the State.
The Club Night Lights Program (CNLP) aims to increase participation by helping community groups and local governments develop sport floodlighting infrastructure, which allows facilities to be used for longer periods.
As part of the CSRFF 2022-23 February small grants round, 9 projects received a total of $614,757 towards facility upgrades. Three projects are in the metropolitan region and the rest are scattered across regional WA.
The latest round of CNLP has benefitted nine local sporting and recreation groups with $335,847 in grants. Five projects are in the metropolitan region with one project in the Kimberley and three in the South West.
CSRFF recipients include:
- Leeming Spartan Cricket Club: $48,718 for four new synthetic cricket practice nets
- Hilton Park Bowling Club: $84,852 for the conversion of a grass bowling green to synthetic
- South Perth Cricket Club: $32,831 for the replacement of practice nets
- North Albany Football and Sporting Club: $83,794 for a changeroom refurbishment
- Shire of Wyndham-East Kimberley: $149,190 for a retractable sail shade at Wyndham swimming pool.
CNLP recipients include:
- City of Gosnells: $100,000 for upgraded floodlighting at Langford Netball Complex
- Higgins Park Tennis Club: $14,116 for a floodlighting upgrade
- Shire of Broome: $60,000 for upgrading tennis court lighting at the Broome Recreation Aquatic Centre
- Shire of Capel: $24,078 for a lighting upgrade Dalyellup College oval
- Bunbury Central Croquet Club: $4357 for club lighting upgrades.
The next round of CSRFF small and annual and forward planning grants are now open. Small grants close on August 31 and annual and forward planning grants close on September 30.
