We’re planning for a future of sustainable, world-class trails in WA

Following the release of the WA Strategic Trails Blueprint in October 2022, the State Government is now offering grants of between $5000 and $25,000 for local trail development projects.

With increasing demand for trails across the State, a consistent and high standard of planning is essential to ensure a sustainable future for the trail industry.

Eligible local governments, community organisations and active recreation clubs are encouraged to apply for funding under the Trail Planning Grants Program, administered by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.

The State Government's Blueprint vision is that by 2027 Western Australia's trails will connect more people to Country. Applications must align with this vision and ensure their trails project is sustainable, inclusive and accessible.

They must also align with the State's 8-stage trail development process which champions sustainable trails being developed in the right place, the right way, and for the right reasons.

In the past 3 years the State Government has invested heavily in trails which create jobs and boost regional economies, including the $10 million Collie Adventure Trails initiative.
