Western Australian schools to celebrate FIFA Women’s World Cup
Western Australian school students will celebrate the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup being held in Australia and New Zealand this July and August with a series of activities and events coordinated by the Department of Education.
In recognition of their strong female soccer programs, Balga Senior High School and Safety Bay Senior High School have both been selected to host one-off 'Women's World Cup Aspiration Day — Dream it… believe it… achieve it…' events.
These events will provide opportunities for girls and young women to participate in a series of activities, including an InspirED presentation from a renowned female sporting person, leadership activities, skill development workshops led by the Women's Perth Glory team and small-sided matches of soccer. The events are being co-hosted with support from Football West.
Kelmscott Senior High School, Lynwood Senior High School, South Coast Baptist College and Willetton Senior High School will attend the south metropolitan event at Safety Bay Senior High School on 28 July. Carine Senior High School, Dianella Secondary College, Emmanuel Catholic College and Mercy College will attend the north metropolitan event at Balga Senior High School on 4 August.
Students are also encouraged to enter the SUMMIT Sport 'design your own football' competition for a chance to win prizes for their school, including footballs and a signed Matildas jersey.
