The State Government will invest $10 million towards upgrades at the Mike Barnett Sports Complex in Rockingham, delivering additional basketball and netball courts, and much needed maintenance works for the popular community facility.

As part of the project, the State Government will provide $2 million for the City of Rockingham to replace the existing roof and deliver other important upgrades to address poor ventilation for a number of courts.

A further $8 million has been allocated towards construction of new courts for a range of sports including basketball, netball, volleyball and others, plugging a much needed gap in the local community for indoor sporting facilities.

The upgrades will help meet the growing demand for courts in the wider Rockingham area and ensure that the existing complex remains fit for purpose.

Planning for the new courts will progress in partnership with the City of Rockingham and local sporting organisations, including the Rockingham Basketball and Recreation Association.
