Place Innovation Awards and placemaking training webinar
The Department for Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC) is helping local governments to support innovative approaches to placemaking through 2 new initiatives.
Placemaking training
DLGSC has engaged Town Teams to deliver free placemaking training for all local government staff and elected members in WA.
Placemaking is a consultative approach to activating local spaces, stimulating local economies and bringing together planners, community, architects, government, land managers and commercial partners.
The new training is available online.
Place Innovation Awards
Local governments have until Friday 18 August 2023 to nominate for the Minister for Local Government’s Place Innovation Awards.
The new awards will recognise innovation, improvements to standard practices, and collaboration in local government place-based projects.
Local governments can nominate in the metropolitan Perth and Peel region category, or the regional project category. A third open category winner will be chosen from the submitted metropolitan and regional award nominations.
For more information and to nominate visit the Place Innovation Awards webpage.
