It's show time: FRINGE is back to delight summer audiences
The FRINGE WORLD Festival will return in 2024, with the government providing a significant funding boost to help deliver more than 500 events this summer.
Hundreds of
thousands of people are expected to delight in performances across comedy,
cabaret, dance, circus and theatre as part of the 2024 FRINGE WORLD festival, which will run
from 19 January to 18 February.
The State Government will provide an additional $1.5 million, through Lotterywest,
to FRINGE to support its 2024 season, which includes FRINGE Sunday Funday and a
free community event that will bring families together for a fun-filled day
with live entertainment. This brings the total support through Lotterywest for
the 2024 festival to $2.7 million.
Additional
Lotterywest support has been provided in response to challenges faced in recent
years due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Lotterywest's
support is enabling FRINGE to bring world-class performances to Western
Australia, including new show, Fruits de la Passion, that features
heart-pounding dance acts. Families will be able to enjoy Dinosaur Time
Machine, which will give them a chance to get up close and personal with a
life-sized T-Rex.
To
secure FRINGE WORLD's future in WA, the State Government has also committed
$2.9 million in new funding to enable the staging of the popular festival in
2025, 2026 and 2027.
In
addition, $350,000 has been provided through the Department of Local
Government, Sport and Cultural Industries to support ARTRAGE to deliver the
event in 2024 and plan for 2025.
Since
1994, Lotterywest has provided more than $15 million to ARTRAGE, which delivers
FRINGE WORLD Festival each year.
