Jarrahdale trail opportunities set to reach new heights
The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale have recently received Community Trail Planning Grant Program funding to continue the development of a trail facility, to cater for a broader range of trail users.
Situated on Noongar-Pinjareb Country, Jarrahdale offers a series of beautiful trails around the historic township. Home to some of WA’s most notable trails, such as the Bibbulmun Track and Munda Biddi Trail, Jarrahdale attracts a wide range of users year-round to enjoy the recreation opportunities available in Perth’s backyard.
The Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale were recent recipients of the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries’ (DLGSC) Community Trail Planning Grants Program.
The Shire received $50,000 in funding, which will enable works on their Jarrahdale Oval Trails Head Detailed Design Development project to commence. The project aims to help identify opportunities to cater for a broader audience of trail users, such as mountain-bike riders, trail runners, hikers and the specific requirements of horse riders.
The facility will play an active role with wayfinding, as well as educating people on how to be trail ready. These initiatives support the Shire’s goal of transforming Jarrahdale into a trail destination in the Peel region.
In the most recent funding round, DLGSC awarded a total of $287,435 to 12 successful recipients.
The Community Trail Planning Grants Program has been designed to support the principles of the Trail Development Process by providing financial support to organisations that adopt and implement the standardised methodology.
