Time to nominate for 2024 State Cultural Treasures Awards
It is time to nominate senior Western Australian artists for their outstanding, lifelong contributions ahead of the 2024 State Cultural Treasures Awards. Nominations are open until 7 August.
The Awards, formerly known as State Living Treasures, first took place in 1998. They honour WA artists who have made a lifelong contribution to their art form and inspired audiences and communities alike.
The Awards, now known as the State Cultural Treasures, were also presented in 2004, 2015 and 2022. To date, there have been 39 winners. The 2022 recipients were:

- Kim Scott
- Nannup Music Festival
- Terri Charlesworth OAM
- Wayne Jowandi Barker
The Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries (DLGSC) hosts the State Cultural Treasures Awards.
The Awards aim to recognise and reward artists whose work and careers have provided a long-lasting legacy to WA’s arts and cultural landscape. They recognise skill, creativity, imagination and originality of senior artists’ in their respective fields. Often, recipients have served as mentors by passing on their knowledge to the next generation of artists.
The State Cultural Treasures Awards are a fantastic way to show our deepest gratitude and appreciation for outstanding senior WA artists. To recognise their extraordinary talent and profound contribution to the communities in which they have created, worked, and lived.
If you know of an incredible artist who is deserving of this honour, nominate them before 7 August 2024.
The 2024 State Cultural Treasures Awards are due to take place later this year.
