Extended trading permits for summer
The hospitality industry is a major contributor to the vibrance of the WA community and extended trading permits (ETP) allows venues to capitalise on the sunshine and balmy nights.
Recent changes to the Director of Liquor Licensing policies have streamlined the application process, but if you are thinking of applying for a permit, make sure you don’t leave it to the last minute.
Make sure that you give yourself (and us) enough time for the assessment process.
An application can be made at least 14 days before the permit is to take effect, but different conditions might also be required.
For example, if the number of patrons expected is greater than 500 but less than 5000, applications can be made from 60 days before the permit is to take effect. More than 5000 patrons and that window moves to 90 days.
We encourage applications to be lodged well in advance of the event date.
Given the variety of permits, if you are considering an application we recommend you take look at what’s required for extended trading permits.
