New community hub for Landsdale
The people of Landsdale now have a vibrant new community space with the official opening of the Dordaak Kepup Library and Youth Innovation Hub.
Dordaak Kepup means Place of Living Waters in Whadjuk Noongar language, with the new community hub overlooking the lake at Broadview Park in Landsdale.
The hub will support programs across science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM), media production, gaming, and community-led activities, providing opportunities to develop new skills, collaborate, and engage with their community.
Dordaak Kepup will provide event and meeting spaces, as well as being a youth-focused facility offering a wide range of spaces and programs to support learning, creativity, and social connection, including:
- recording studio and podcasting room
- gaming room and virtual reality space
- multifunctional spaces for events, performances, and workshops
- kitchen for cooking programs and demonstrations
- areas for robotics, coding, and design learning
- meeting rooms and chill-out spaces
- library and reading spaces, including facilities for young parents.
The facility is being delivered as part of the WA Government's strategy to provide quality infrastructure and services across WA.
The WA Government invested $6.4 million to help deliver this important project for Landsdale, including $380,000 from Lotterywest and $12,000 from the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety to go towards electric vehicle chargers. The City of Wanneroo is investing the remaining $12 million for the project.
