The State Government will provide further funding to ensure long-awaited upgrades to the Halls Creek oval are delivered for the community in time for the 2026 local football season

The funding boost will enable the Shire of Halls Creek to complete turf and irrigation upgrades at the oval and takes the State Government's contribution to the project to nearly $1,050,000.

The Shire of Halls Creek had previously received $595,758 through the 2023-24 Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF) towards the project but it has been unable to proceed.

In addition to the funding, a project control group including WA Government representatives, has been established to provide support to the Shire to ensure the oval upgrade can be delivered efficiently and enable community football to return to the oval next year.

The project is part of the WA Government's PlayOn WA: 2030 by 2030 initiative, which is driving the delivery of quality community sport and recreation infrastructure across the State.

PlayOn WA aims to foster healthier, more connected communities by ensuring Western Australians - no matter where they live - have access to high quality sporting facilities.
