This year’s keynote speaker is Greg Hire, former Perth Wildcats star and mental health advocate. The event will allow you to network with others from the industry and give you the opportunity to learn more about funding and grants, how to attract
more volunteers, developing wellbeing in your club and much more. The program also includes an Officials Panel discussion and is an event not to be missed!
The Coaches Forum is a must for all coaches to attend to improve your knowledge and network with other coaches. The forum includes presentations from coach Shawn Redhage, four times NBL champion and former Perth Wildcats player and Jamie Douse, South West Talent and Coaching Manager, WAFC, and AFL Program Manager and Coach for the South West Academy of Sport (SWAS).

Greg Hire — Guest Speaker

Our guest speaker is former Perth Wildcats star and mental health advocate, Greg Hire.
The Vice-Captain of the 2013/14 and 2016/17/19 NBL Championship winning team the Perth Wildcats, Greg Hire is described as the workhorse of the NBL. Greg has played over 234 games in the National Basketball League winning four championships along the
way. Beginning his career with the Perth Wildcats as a Development Player, he was upgraded to a contracted position the following season. Greg has overcome many obstacles to feature as an integral part of the Wildcats success.
Off the court, Greg has launched his own charity, A Stitch in Time, which has been acknowledged for their impactful work in the community. Greg also works as an ambassador for Youth Focus, a charity which supports youth who are struggling with mental
health issues. His passion – which stems from his upbringing and life experiences – saw him win a Pride of Australia Medal in the ‘Inspiration’ category. In 2018 he was named as West Australian of the Year in the Youth Category
for his work in the youth suicide prevention field.
Greg will share his story of success which is the result of hard work, commitment and a relentless attitude. He has overcome many challenges and is a rare individual whose off the field accolades rival his on court accomplishments. Greg is
a passionate speaker who will deliver his message in an entertaining, informative and refreshing style with humour.
Mark Readings, MC — Sports Presenter

Mark Readings is again our host for the 2021 Peel Sports Forum. He’s an experienced journalist and TV presenter at Channel Seven Perth, having worked in the industry for more than 29 years.
Mark has reported on a host of sports spanning from AFL games and Grand Finals, Ashes Test matches, the Sydney Olympics, through to the Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur in 1998.
Mark has commentated AFL games for the Nine network, as well as netball at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne and the gymnastics at the 2012 London Olympics. He was the face of sport at Channel Nine Perth for 18 years, presenting weekend and
weekday sport for their news bulletins.
For the past 8 years, Mark has been an AFL commentator and hosts the coverage in Perth for radio station, 6PR. Mark also commentates AFL games from Perth for the Melbourne radio station SEN 1116. He joined Channel Seven in 2014 and hosts Channel
Seven’s live AFL show, The Game, and hosts and commentates Channel Seven’s WAFL coverage.

Denver is the General Manager of local not-for-profit organisation, Inclusion Solutions. Born and raised in Southern India (of Portuguese descent), Denver moved to Australia at the age of ten. Following years of university studies, Denver
has worked within the community sector in Canberra, Sydney, the UK, Ireland and Perth for the past two decades.
Denver was drawn to Western Australia in 2008 to pursue sporting ambitions and has since called Perth home! Denver has spent the past decade working with over tens of communities across WA. Denver lists family, sport, travel, real estate,
woodwork, cars and motorbikes as his interests.
Amy Coombe — Bullshift

Building a positive club culture
In this session, Amy will share the Bullshift findings on what clubs can do to build a positive club culture. Learn how your club can benefit by shaping the culture, listening to your members and getting more openness, honesty and straight talk.
Amy Coombe is a National Speaker, Facilitator, Author and accredited Life and MBIT Coaching Practitioner. Amy has appeared live on the ABC News, on Channel 10 ‘The Project’, Channel 7 ‘Today Tonight’ and been featured in
many publications.
In 2014 she was the official Ambassador for Mental Health Week in Western Australia. In 2013 Amy was nominated for the Australian Education and Leaderships ‘Most Positive Role Model of the Year’ award. Amy has worked with clients
within a range of different industries including the public and private sector, small business, government departments, schools and community groups. Most recently she has been a key contributor to the content, method and culture of The Bullshift
Company.
Amy speaks with heart, humour and honesty, creating moments of reflective silence followed by roars of laughter and a positive shift of energy.
Jodii Maguire — Think Performance Psychology
Developing wellbeing in your club

Jodii is excited to return to the 2021 Peel Sports Forum. This year Jodii will be speaking with club representatives on the role clubs and its leaders can play in relation to wellbeing and mental health. She will share some insights into how
clubs support wellbeing and mental health at an elite level to help you generate ideas for your club. In addition, she will help you to navigate the responsibilities of looking after the welfare of your members and volunteers. Learn how
your clubs can implement programs and strategies around wellbeing that ensure your focus is on performance development and the wellbeing of your community.
Jodii Maguire is a Director and Founder of Think Performance Psychology. She has spent the last decade working with elite sporting teams, grassroots clubs, coaches, sporting individuals and schools on developing the skills required to help people
perform at their best.
Think Performance is a performance psychology consulting firm focused on performance enhancement, leadership development and wellbeing in sporting and organisational settings. The mission is to assist individuals and teams develop strategies to
unleash their best performances, whilst maintaining a focus on wellbeing and mental health.
Jodii is passionate about making a real and long-term contribution to youth sports by encouraging everyone involved in youth sports to focus not only skills performance but also to develop resilience and confidence of our kids in a fun and motivating
environment.
Anna Hill — Hancock Creative
How to activate your community

Anna will assist your organisation to effectively use social media to communicate and increase reach in your local community, achieve measurable results, attract volunteers and funds. This presentation will focus on Facebook including how to manage negative
comments. This session is ideal for local sporting groups interested in learning how to grow a successful social media platform to market your organisation.

Anna Hill spent her early career in marketing. Working with InterSpace Technologies, Anna raised funds for Telethon through an interactive multimedia game called The Quest for the Golden Bird – it was the first of its kind in WA, and the start of
a lifetime passion for Anna. Anna has been a freelance writer for more than a decade and has spent the last six years as a social media manager and mentor.

Enjoy this interactive panel discussion conducted by Mark Readings with umpires Jacqui Jashari, Matthew Hall and Alisha Williams, all with a diverse range of umpiring knowledge and experience. Also joining them on the panel is Megan Thompson (Coach Thommo)
from Mandurah Basketball Association.
Jacqui Jashari — Netball Umpire

Jacqui has been either playing, coaching or umpiring netball at different levels for over 40 years. She is best known for her netball achievements as an All Australian and International Umpire, umpiring Commonwealth Games, World Cups, many Test
Matches and the highest national league competition in the country.
Since retiring from the court, Jacqui mentors and coaches umpires in WA, and for the past 2 years, has been the High Performance Umpire Manager for Netball Australia. In this role she supported the High Performance Umpire pathways, SSN National
League Umpire Coaches and also coaches the SSN National League umpires. She is also on the International Testing Panel for umpires through the International Netball Federation. Jacqui is very passionate about the development of umpires
in WA and is currently a Netball WA High Performance Umpire Coach working with umpires at the State League, and when she can, at community level.
Through various roles at the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries she has managed officiating and coaches high performance scholarships and worked closely with other sports to support their programs. Similarly she has worked
with Sport Australia on various projects to support officials.
Matthew Hall — Cricket Umpire

Matthew Hall is currently the Match Referees Manager for Cricket Australia and was formerly the Umpire Manager for the WACA.
Matthew was from Yorkshire in England and has been umpiring cricket in Australia for 15 years from community cricket through to state. Matthew has played a leading role in encouraging more females into umpiring cricket.
Alisha Joynes — Hockey Umpire

Alisha began umpiring hockey in Mandurah at the age of 15, however it wasn’t until the age of 29 that the opportunity arose to move beyond umpiring locally, with an appointment to the Australian Country Championships. Over the next seven years,
Alisha represented WA at Australian Country, Australian Masters and Under 18’s National Championships around Australia, as well as representing Australia internationally at tournaments in Fiji, California and New Zealand. The pinnacle of Alisha’s
umpiring was a capped test match between Australia’s Hockeyroos and India in 2012.
Alisha is also an accredited hockey umpire coach and was appointed as Umpire Manager for the National Under 13’s Hockey Championships in 2012. From 2009 to 2012 Alisha was the country representative on Hockey WA’s Officiating Reference
Panel and co-wrote a How to Umpire Hockey booklet. Through her university studies in Sport, Recreation and Event Management, Alisha produced an updated version in 2019 which was endorsed and distributed state-wide by Hockey WA.
Megan Thompson — Basketball Coach

Megan has spent over three decades in the sporting industry as an athlete, teacher and coach and is very passionate about giving back and sharing knowledge. She has played and coached basketball professionally, both nationally and internationally.
Currently the Development and Pathways Manager for Mandurah Basketball Association, Megan’s impressive coaching experience includes WNBL Coach for the South East Queensland Stars, Australian Opals Camp Coach and SBL Women’s Head Coach for
the Cockburn Cougars. She was the Women’s Head Coach for the Queensland Basketball League’s Gold Coast Rollers and spent many years as a high school Basketball Excellence Teacher and Coach.
Megan is a coach that promotes a great respect for officials and teaches her coaches how to create a culture of respect within their team. Megan will be a positive contributor on the panel discussion providing input from a coaches’ perspective.
