Camp instructors

All staff have appropriate qualifications to work within our recreation camps.

All staff are required to have a:

Specialist recreation

Staff involved in specialist recreation program instruction (roping, land and aquatic) hold additional qualifications relevant to the particular program they are delivering. All staff are required to participate in a formal induction process for each program they conduct and need to demonstrate to designated senior staff members that they are competent to run the program independently.

For privacy reasons, we are unable to provide individual clients with copies of individual staff members’ certifications and qualifications. A letter stating that all department staff working directly with their group hold all the necessary and relevant qualifications can be supplied upon request.

Pool of casual instructors

Casual instructors deliver a range of outdoor recreation programs including paddle sports, team building activities, abseiling, high ropes, rock climbing and surf life saving.

We periodically seek applicants who have experience in outdoor adventure recreation and preferably one or more qualifications in the following areas:

  • Aquatic supervision such as Surf Life Saving (Rescue Certificate or Bronze Medallion) or Royal Life Saving Society Bronze Medallion
  • Senior First Aid
  • Paddle sports (Australian Canoeing – Instructor or Guide)
  • Roping (NOLRS registered or equivalent competencies).
  • Other relevant certification for example archery, group facilitation.

Suitable applicants are placed in a pool and may be offered casual employment as required. Casual instructors may be required to work at any department camp to meet operational needs.
