Recreation camps

Our recreation camps are special places where Western Australians of all ages can participate in unique outdoor activities.

Term 2 operations, 2022

Our recreation camps operate with the current State Government directions.

From Tuesday 26 April 2022, overnight school camps may resume where they meet the protocols established by the Chief Health Officer. This can occur where the safety protocols are achieved by both the school and the camp provider.

Mask mandates and venue rules for proof of vaccination are followed by the DLGSC staff; and COVID-19 safety plans remain in place. Please note, the expectations of the schools is outlined in the Department of Education Guidelines for camps – COVID 19 considerations.

Our camps bookings team will respond to your enquiries in a proximity order (nearest date) and will make contact with the nominated client representative as quickly we are able.

Schools may now be able to proceed with the original booking option that involves both the accommodation and adventure activities in an overnight stay format. This can be discussed directly with the camp team where you have an existing booking.

All non-school bookings may continue consistent with our COVID safety plans.

Cancellations and transfers on all camp bookings will be considered according to current terms and conditions and the prevailing State Government directions. New accommodation bookings or transfers for school camps will be available for dates from Monday 16 May, 2022, subject to public health measures at the time.

All recreation camps staff are double dose vaccinated and must have a third dose within a month of becoming eligible. Camp activities are mainly hosted outdoors, and we have COVID Safe measures in place including:

  • attendance register;
  • reducing physical contact;
  • enhancing personal hygiene practices;
  • adapting recreation programs;
  • regular cleaning of shared spaces;
  • hygiene training for catering, cleaning and program staff; and
  • provide activities in the outdoors or well-ventilated environments.

We appreciate the time and effort involved in organising a camp and thank you for your patience as we seek to reschedule as many camps as possible into the remainder of the year. If you have any queries or suggestions, please contact us at campinfo@dlgsc.wa.gov.au or 61 8 9492 9999.

We are glad to be back open for business and are here to help.

Our camps

Whether it’s conquering that first abseil, team success at crossing the ‘acid river’ or the wonderful feeling of sharing a campfire with new friends, your camp experience will be a rewarding one.

Our four metropolitan camps each offer unique recreation and accommodation. From the tranquil bush of Bickley, a river retreat at Point Walter to our coastal camps at Woodman Point and Ern Halliday, you'll discover the perfect location for your school, community or corporate group.

Our regional camp, Camp Quaranup, offers many opportunities to explore Albany and the Great Southern. Situated on the harbour, this historic location is a popular regional destination.
