The Western Australian Screen Industry strategy is a 10-year framework to build a strong screen industry in WA.
The Western Australian Screen Industry Strategy will coordinate and guide the activities of the State Government in supporting the growth of the WA screen industry over the next 10 years.
The vision:
Western Australia has a world-renowned screen industry showcasing exceptional creative content and stories to the world. Government and industry align to create new highly skilled jobs, attract investment and activity to grow and diversify our economy, and enrich our cultures and our people.
The WA Screen Industry Strategy aims to grow the economic and cultural benefits from the industry and align it with the State’s economic development framework, Diversify WA.
The strategy will attract larger scale productions to the state, making WA a place where high-quality international productions are made, and where WA stories are created to be shared with the world.
The strategy will also grow the WA local screen industry, supporting local creative content, creating jobs, and increasing investment and tourism opportunities in the state.
The WA Screen Industry Strategy outlines 4 strategic pillars and 8 initiatives to expand the Western Australian screen industry, provide increased creative employment, increase opportunities for external investment, and greater economic diversification for the state.
The strategy will support the delivery of the State Government’s $233.5 million state-of the art Screen Production Facility and $20 million for the WA Screen Production Attraction Incentive Fund as part of those initiatives.
