The responses provide important insight into potential industry priorities.
On average, 9 in 10 stakeholders agreed that the list of industry priorities recognised by the department through its desktop review were important.
In particular, the attraction, support and retention of volunteers emerged as priority number one, with stakeholders unanimously agreeing it should be an industry priority.
The department has now commenced statewide information sessions to test the findings from the survey. These are being attended by a range of key stakeholders that represent the breadth of the industry – this includes sport and recreation but also local government, community and small businesses.
The findings will inform the final set of industry priorities to assist the department to focus resources, develop new initiatives to support the industry and guide strategic thinking over the next three years.
