Intro
As one of Australia’s largest regular multisport festivals, it has an extensive sport program comprising more than 50 different sports including cricket, archery, shooting, tennis, swimming, dancesport, golf, petanque, futsal, beach volleyball, dragon boat, baseball and billiards.
Running at venues all over Perth (with several out of the metro area), it includes numerous facilities which have previously benefitted from DLGSC investment.
You don’t need to be a superstar to participate as entry is open to all who meet the minimum age criteria, which in most cases is 30 years.
Created by the Confederation of Australian Sport in 1987, the Australian Masters Games brings together sport lovers from all over the country and features a strong social program paired with a holiday destination.
One of the highlights will surely be the return of the 1982 Perth Wildcats team, who will be playing in replicas of that year’s basketball uniform. Captain Mike Ellis will be joined by former team members as well as Ernie Dingo and Dr Richard Walley.
In the best of sport and recreation tradition, the games will be powered by around 1000 volunteers giving their time and enthusiasm to various roles including accreditation, operations and participant services as well as at each event.
Office teams, local clubs and State Sporting Associations are encouraged to register in one or more sports, as the only entry requirement is a minimum age.
