In 2011, he joined the Melbourne Stars for the inaugural season of the Big Bash League.
In 2000, Mr Warne received an Australian Sports Medal, for service to sport. In 2001, he was awarded the Centenary Medal, for outstanding service to the Australian and international sport of cricket. He was named one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the 20th Century and was inducted into the International Cricket Council Cricket Hall of Fame in 2013.
As a mark of mourning and respect, flags are being half-masted across the country on the day of the memorial service. The Australian National Flag should be flown at half-mast all day on Wednesday 30 March 2022 from all buildings and establishments occupied by Western Australian government departments and affiliated agencies. Other organisations are encouraged to participate.
In accordance with flag protocol, all flags and ensigns at each flag station should be flown at half-mast during daylight hours. However, should it be the custom to fly the flags of other nations at your flag station, it would be appropriate to seek permission from the diplomatic representatives of that nation to half-mast their flag.
Ministerial Offices are requested to disseminate this information to all relevant agencies within their Ministerβs portfolio.
If further information regarding flag protocol is required, please contact Protocol and State Events on 61 8 6552 6333 or visit the Australian National Flag page.
