The WA Production Attraction Incentive — which is now open for applications — will be administered by Screenwest, and builds on a range of financial incentives in place to attract world-class productions to Western Australia, including the WA Regional Screen Fund and the WA Post-Production, Digital and Visual Effects Incentive.

A Sizzle Reel and Look Book have been released by Screenwest as part of the launch, showcasing WA's spectacular and versatile filming locations across our regions, and metropolitan Perth.

The incentive will also complement the State Government's screen production facility, which was a 2021 election commitment.

An increase in funded productions will provide skills development and training opportunities for local screen practitioners, while helping to unlock the Federal Location Incentive Program. Creating a pipeline of WA productions will increase the capability and capacity of the local industry and suppliers, ahead of the delivery of the proposed state-of-the-art film studio and screen production facility.

The launch of the Production Attraction Incentive complements the WA Screen Industry Strategy, which is currently being developed, to ensure WA is best placed to grow and develop the film and screen sector over the coming decade.

WA has been home to many high-profile productions, including Blueback, Sweet As, Kid Snow, three seasons of Mystery Road, Breath, H is for Happiness, How to Please a Woman, RAMS, Ningaloo with Tim Winton and Shipwreck Hunters Australia — to name just a few.

National and international productions will now have extra incentives to bring their productions to WA, to take advantage of the fantastic talent and locations that WA provides.
