  • Director of Liquor Licensing approves extended trading hours policy for WA’s licensed venues during upcoming FIFA World Cup.
  • The move will enable venues to stay open and allow sporting fans to catch the live action.
  • Licensees encouraged to apply for extended trading permit (ETP) as soon as possible.

The State’s Director of Liquor Licensing has approved a one-off liquor policy to allow for the extended trading hours for licensed premises during the World Cup matches. 

The extended trading will not only support hospitality businesses and the economy, it will also give sports fans the opportunity to watch the World Cup live and enjoy of the spirit of the game with friends.

Under the new policy, licensed venues will be permitted to trade until 30 minutes after the conclusion of the game if it sits outside normal trading hours, providing a live broadcast is shown on the premises during the extended trading period.

Speaking from the SHOE bar in Yagan Square today, the Minister for Racing and Gaming said he supported the Director of Liquor Licensing’s decision and that it was a great win for the industry, community and the economy.
