Activities are planned all over the State to mark Outdoors October with many free, family friendly and designed for beginners.

Outdoors October is organised by Outdoors WA, the peak body for outdoor activities in WA and is supported by the State Government through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.

The initiative has been running since 2013 to promote the health and wellbeing benefits of outdoor active recreation and is a key deliverable of the WA Outdoor framework, ‘More People, More Active, Outdoors’.

Outdoor recreation, nature-based tourism and adventure recreation make a huge contribution to the health, wealth, wellbeing and happiness of individuals and communities in Western Australia. They also contribute greatly to the State’s economy.

Outdoors October will culminate with the WA Outdoor Recreation Sector Awards to be held on Friday 28 October 2022.
