The annual event, established in 2011, is one of the largest fringe festivals in the world. The 2023 program has a theme of “feel good” and features 545 shows at 117 venues with hundreds of thousands of attendees expected.
FRINGE WORLD is a firm fixture in Perth’s arts and culture calendar and receives significant funding from the State Government.
Artrage, the organisation that runs Fringe World, receives $250,000 per year from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries. Additionally, Lotterywest has committed $3.6million over the period 2022 to 2024.
FRINGE Sunday Funday supported by Lotterywest returns for a second time in 2023. The event features roving performers, a silent disco and bright pink Astro turf between Roe and Francis Street.
The popular Arts and Culture Trust programmed STATE OF PLAY will return at the State Theatre with a theme of Air Guitar. It features 30 productions and 145 performances from 20 January to 5 February 2023. State of Play will promote homegrown talent through music, comedy, dance, cabaret, improv and workshops, including events for children and families. The Perth Cultural Centre will be a bustling hub of the Fringe World program.
