Intro

The Combat Sports Commission (CSC) has been conducting a comprehensive review of the combat sports legislation (Combat Sports Act 1987 and Combat Sports Regulations 2004). The review was commenced as a strategic objective for 2022, with the progression of legislative changes targeted for 2023 under the CSC Strategic Plan 2021–2025.

Stakeholder feedback and general comment on the regulatory system (round 1) was previously sought. The 2022 industry feedback and legislative review was instrumental in assisting the CSC determine topics for regulatory reform.  A second round of stakeholder consultation (round 2) is now being directly sought on the Regulatory Proposal.

The proposal outlines suggested legislative amendments, raises areas for possible regulatory reform and identifies topics for further industry discussion on the combat sports legislation. Following this second round of consultation the CSC anticipates progressing draft changes to the legislation.
