It was pleasing to see a great turnout at the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies (AIATSIS) Summit recently held at the Perth Exhibition and Convention Centre in Boorloo (Perth).
The summit, co-convened with the South West Aboriginal Land and Sea Council and held on Noongar Boodja (land), welcomed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and many other stakeholders from government, industry and community from all across Australia.
The Aboriginal Cultural Centre team welcomed the many attendees who came to visit its stall, have a yarn and learn more about the progress of the project.
The Aboriginal History Research Services team were also on hand to promote the information services they provide to assist Aboriginal families find ancestral information, and publications and works produced by the department in partnership with Aboriginal communities.
At the summit, the team were also excited to unveil the interim visual identity and brand for the Aboriginal Cultural Centre project. Inspired by WA’s unique waters, landscape and natural environment, and the project’s core cultural values of Wirin (Spirit), Boodja (Country) and Moort (People).
This new look and feel will support the project as it moves forward to further define the project, and engagement expands across WA with Aboriginal people and communities, traditional knowledge holders as well as language, art and cultural centres.
We would like to extend a warm thank you to the organisers, presenters and exhibitors of the AIATSIS summit, and the many people who visited the stall and shared their thoughts and ideas that will help shape the future of the centre!
