Intro
Funding worth $865,946 will assist in delivering a variety of sport and active recreation events. These include national and international qualifying and championship events, a WAFL game in Geraldton, a Pride Swim Carnival, karate, judo and fencing competitions, plus championships of the fast-growing sport of golf croquet. All 26 events will contribute to a more exciting and lively local sporting calendar.
Administered by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, the funding program comprises 3 categories: event projects, event hosting and the Country Sport Enrichment Scheme which supports organisations to conduct state league, national or international events in regional WA.
Funded events provide opportunities for talented Western Australian athletes, coaches and officials to participate at a national or international level in their home environment.
Opportunities are provided for the community to be involved in participation events, and sport and recreation festivals, or they can just get down and cheer on Western Australian representatives in the high-level events.
Program objectives include building the capacity and capability of the sport and recreation workforce and volunteers to plan, secure and deliver quality sport and active recreation events.
