  • Spinifex Holdings (WA) Pty Ltd, the licensee of The Spinifex Hotel in Clarendon Street, was fined $60,000
  • Boab Inn Pty Ltd, the licensee of The Boab Inn in Loch Street, was fined $30,000
  • Mr Emanuel Richard Brian Dillon, the sole director of both companies, was reprimanded and fined $50,000.

The disciplinary action was the result of a complaint made in April 2021 on behalf of the Commissioner of Police which was upheld on multiple grounds.

Kimberley Police supplied evidence to the Liquor Commission that both hotels had sold liquor at various times between October 2019 and January 2021 in breach of the packaged liquor restrictions in force at the time. The complaint detailed a total of 2752 breaches during that period.

In addition, Spinifex Holdings (WA) Pty Ltd is also the subject of further action under the Liquor Control Act 1988 for the forfeiture of all illegal gains made by the licensee in breach of the packaged liquor restrictions in force between March and June 2020, and that decision is expected to be published in early 2025.
