Section 8(2)(da) of the Gaming and Wagering Commission Act 1987 provides for the Gaming and Wagering Commission (the Commission) to take steps to minimise harm to the community caused by gambling.
Reducing the availability of ATMs and access to credit on the gaming footprint has been reported to assist in reducing harm caused from gambling.
There are restrictions on the placement of ATMs within Crown Perth, and the amount of money that can be withdrawn within a 24 hour period. Limiting access to ATMs encourages patrons to have breaks in play as part of harm minimisation requirements.
ATMs are permitted on the same level as the casino main entry, close to the location of the security officers and under existing CCTV coverage.
