Preventing drink spiking

Posters for licensed premises

Drink spiking occurs when additional alcohol or other intoxicating substances are added to a drink without the drinker’s knowledge or consent. It is a criminal offence, which can also leave the victim vulnerable to further offences such as sexual assault or theft. There have been incidences of drink spiking in Western Australia over the last 12 months.

Preventing drink spiking is a team effort. We all need to be vigilant and not leave drinks unattended. Additionally, staff at licensed premises need to be aware of and look out for drink spiking in their establishments.

To raise awareness of the issue, posters are available for anyone serving alcohol to display at their premises.
