Following consideration of the WA Police and
the West Pilbara Alcohol Management Group jointly prepared report
regarding the evidence and extent of alcohol-related harm being
experienced by people in communities situated in the Pilbara, as well as
the comments and submissions received on that report, the Director of
Liquor Licensing has determined that he is satisfied that the level of
alcohol related harm occurring in the communities of the Pilbara is such
that it would be in the public interest to impose restrictive
conditions on relevant licences.
The detailed report, a
supplementary report prepared by the WA Police, and all of the comments
and submissions received can be accessed by clicking on the links below:

Licensees have now been issued with a “Show Cause” Notice, pursuant to section 64(2a) of the Liquor Control Act 1988,
and are offered an opportunity to lodge submissions as to why
conditions should not be imposed. Written submissions from licensees
must be lodged by no later than close of business 22 June 2012.
