Intro
The COVID-19 Audience Outlook Monitor aggregates survey data in a freely available dashboard, to assist artists and cultural organisations of all kinds to understand how audiences feel about attending events again.
There were 152 participating organisations around Australia who participated in the survey release and for Phase 2 there were 1996 responses collected through Western Australian organisations.
The results show that audiences are increasingly ready to attend cultural events in most locations. Most commonly, attendees are returning to museums and galleries (12%), and cinemas (9%), which were the main types of facilities open at the time of data collection.
The department is collaborating with research agencies Patternmakers (Sydney) and WolfBrown (USA) and five other government agencies across Australia to produce this resource.
Data will be collected from audiences again in September 2020, as restrictions are lifted on the number of people allowed to gather for cultural events.
