  • Designs for the new $5.5 million redevelopment of Morley Sport and Recreation Centre unveiled.
  • Two new basketball courts will cement the venue as the home for the East Perth District Basketball Association.
  • $2 million contributed through a State Government 2017 election commitment made by Morley MLA Amber-Jade Sanderson.

The stage one design, which was unveiled at the City of Bayswater this week, is a State Government election commitment through the Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF).

The centre is home to the East Perth District Basketball Association (EPDBA) which has seen a significant growth in membership over the past decade with junior participation doubling during this period.

A feasibility study was finalised in 2019 which showed that the two new courts were needed to keep up with current and future demand of the facility.

Other upgrades include new sports lighting for the rugby pitches including a field realignment.

The redevelopment was made possible by a $2 million State Government 2017 election commitment and years of advocacy by local member, Amber-Jade Sanderson.

Additional funding of $3.5 million was provided by the City of Bayswater.
