Intro
Youth focused events, markets, festivals and artistic performances are just some of the applications received in round 1 for events to be held by 31 December 2022. The successful first round applicants will be announced soon.
Businesses, not-for-profits and property owners with ideas for events in the City and Northbridge that will be held by 30 March 2023 can apply for grants in round 2, which closes at 5pm on 1 October.
The third and final round of applications will open from 1 February to 1 March for events to be held by 30 June 2023.
The CBD Revitalisation Grants program is administered by the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries.
The department’s Executive Director Local Government Tim Fraser said applications are assessed against criteria of economic impact, activation and capability to deliver.
“There has been a strong response to the first round and these grants provide an amazing opportunity for businesses, community groups and local governments to work together to activate some great spaces in the CBD,” he said.
“The events will draw people into the city centre and bring our community together in a positive way.
“I encourage the community and businesses to apply for round two which will support a wide-range of events including those that utilise empty and unused buildings throughout the CBD plus spaces around East and West Perth, and that activate the night-time economy.”
The State Government’s investment in CBD Revitalisation Grants Program is part of a $12 million package aimed at increasing foot traffic in the Perth CBD and Northbridge to make it a more connected, active and attractive place to live, work, visit or play.
Successful recipients will be able to apply to the State Government for the use of locations such as Elizabeth Quay, Yagan Square and the Cultural Centre Precinct.
