Approved Responsible Service of Online Gambling Training

1. Introduction

The National Consumer Protection Framework for Online Wagering in Australia — National Policy Statement (NCPF) is an agreement between the Commonwealth of Australia and states and territories of Australia which aims to reduce the harm caused by online wagering to Australian wagering customers.

In accordance with regulation 77Y(4) of the Betting Control Regulations 1978 and regulation 40Z(4) of the Gaming and Wagering Commission Regulations 1988, the Gaming and Wagering Commission of Western Australia has approved training about responsible service of online wagering for relevant individuals, to enact, in Western Australia, the requirements regarding staff training established by the NCPF.

2. Citation and effect

2.1 This notice may be cited as Approved Responsible Service of Online Gambling Training Notice 2025.

2.2 This notice is published pursuant regulation 77Y(4) of the Betting Control Regulations 1978 and regulation 40Z(4) of the Gaming and Wagering Commission Regulations 1988.

3. Approval of responsible service of online gambling training

3.1 The following training about responsible service of online gambling is approved for the purposes of regulation 77Y of the Betting Control Regulations 1978 and regulation 40Z of the Gaming and Wagering Commission Regulations 1988:

(a) micro-credentials developed by TAFE Queensland:

(i) initial training — Responsible service of online wagering — MCC00045

(ii) refresher training — Responsible service of online wagering refresher 2025 — MCC00198

and

(b) accredited initial or refresher training developed by a Registered Training Organisation or TAFE (other than TAFE Queensland) that meets the National Unit of Competency.

4. Definitions

Terms defined in the Betting Control Regulations 1978 and the Gaming and Wagering Commission Regulations 1988 have the same meaning in this Notice.

In this notice:

(a) Registered Training Organisation has the same meaning as in the National Vocational Education and Training Regulator Act 2011 (Cth).

(b) National Unit of Competency means the training unit of competency CHCFIN005 Provide responsible online wagering services published by the Australian Government.
