Seniors Recreation Council
The department supports the Seniors Recreation Council of WA (SRC), which is recognised as the peak body for organisations supporting seniors' involvement sport and recreation.
This volunteer-driven organisation delivers services to seniors in WA
that encourage the over-45s to participate in sport, recreation and
associated physical and mental activities. Their nine branches focus on
participation, policy development, community leadership promotion and
the over-45s potential for community contribution.
The SRC collaborates with the department and many
other stakeholders to offer a number of services and events across the
state, including:
- Advice and support in establishing new recreational based groups for seniors.
- Support to expand existing active recreation groups.
- Coordination and fostering of projects which will contribute to
the opportunities for over 45s to participate in recreational
activities.
