Application process
New funding rounds begin on the 1 July each year.
Applications are open year round, and can be completed online in 3 simple steps:
- Check your child is eligible
- Find an approved KidSport Club
- Apply online (or contact kidsport@dlgsc.wa.gov.au for a hard copy application if you don’t
have access to the internet).
Before you apply
Ensure you have a photo of your Health Care or Pensioner Concession Card ready to attach as a file online.
The card must be current (not expired) and must display the child's name and individual Centrelink Client Reference Number (CRN).
Remember to allow enough time for your application to be processed before your child’s season starts.
Assessment can take up to 10 to 15 business days during peak season (January to May each year).
Tips for completing the application
- Provide a valid email address when applying (the KidSport team will use this to send you the voucher)
- Vouchers can be sent to your phone as an SMS. To you opt-in, add your current mobile number in your application.
- Children can join clubs outside their local government area.
- Eligible children can access up to $500 worth of vouchers each financial year. This can be split across multiple KidSport Clubs.
- To find out if your child has funding available, enter their details on page 1 of the KidSport application form. Any
remaining funding for the named child will be displayed. The child must still meet the eligibility criteria to access funding.
- Vouchers can only be used at KidSport approved clubs. If your club is not approved, ask them to check if they are eligible and would like to register with KidSport.
- If you have difficulty accessing the online form try visiting your local government, local library, or asking your club for help.
Voucher assessment
Your local government or the KidSport team will assess the application within 10 - 15 business days.
If approved
- You will be sent a KidSport voucher by email, and by SMS if you opt-in.
- You will need to provide the voucher code to your chosen KidSport Club when registering.
- If the club fees are more that the voucher amount you will need to pay the difference.
- The club will validate your voucher code, then DLGSC will pay the club.
If unsuccessful
- You will be sent an email advising that you are unsuccessful.
- If you have any questions, contact your local government or email the KidSport team.
Common reasons for applications being unsuccessful include:
- child not meeting eligibility criteria
- proof of concession was not provided or insufficient (expired or child not named)
- the funding request was greater than the child's remaining KidSport balance.
