Special consideration applications are available to support identified low-income families who may have difficulty accessing concession cards, or independently applying for a KidSport voucher.
This includes families who are experiencing financial hardship due to extenuating circumstances and who may not have access to a Services Australia Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card.
KidSport special consideration eligibility
If a family or child has a Services Australia Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, they can use the online KidSport application.
Without a concession card families may be able to access KidSport via special consideration.
To be eligible, the child or family must meet one of the following criteria:
- family experiencing significant financial distress (loss of main income source, death/serious illness of main income earner or other extenuating circumstances)
- family impacted by natural disaster (for example fire, flood or cyclone)
- child living in the care of extended family or alternate long-term living arrangements (not in care of the State)
- all children in the care of the State in any care arrangement
- biological children of foster and family carers
- Target 120 program participants
- child or their parent/guardian is an Asylum Seeker, refugee, or other humanitarian entrant

Applying for special consideration
To access KidSport via special consideration:
- Check your family or child meets one of the criteria.
- Contact a KidSport support agent — the DLGSC KidSport team can help to find your local KidSport support agent.
- The KidSport support agent will check if the child is eligible and submit an application.
- DLGSC KidSport team will assess the application. If approved, the parent and agent will be sent a KidSport voucher to use at a KidSport Club.
