Main dormitories

The dormitories overlook Princess Royal Harbour, sleeping a maximum of 114 people across three distinct areas.

 

General information

Dormitories 

The main dormitories are made up of three distinct areas:

  1. North wing (Eclipse, Meredith, Breaksea and Gull)
  2. South wing (Dunder, Seal and Michaelmas)
  3. Muttonbird and Geake.

The dormitories have easy access to the dining room, class room, recreation room as well as the main jetty and surrounding grounds. The main dormitory rooms are named after local islands, with one exception being the Meredith area which is named after Cliff and Norma Meredith, long serving caretakers of the site during the 1970’s – 1990’s.

North wing

North wing sleeps 49 people:

  • Eclipse dorm sleeps 12 in one room in bunk beds
  • Meredith dorm sleeps 10, 8 in two rooms in bunk beds, and one room with a queen bed
  • Breaksea dorm sleeps 10, 8 in two rooms and 2 in the foyer, in bunk beds
  • Gull dorm sleeps 17 in two rooms, one with eight bunk beds and another with a single bed.

South wing

South wing sleeps 37 people:

  • Dunder dorm sleeps 10, 8 in two rooms and 2 in the foyer, in bunk beds
  • Seal dorm sleeps 10, 8 in two rooms and 2 in the foyer, in bunk beds 
  • Michaelmas dorm sleeps 17 in two rooms, one with eight bunk beds and another with a single bed.

Originally the laundry for the quarantine stations, Muttonbird and Geake dormitories are located adjacent to the south wing.

Muttonbird, Geake

Muttonbird and Geake sleeps 28 people:

  • Muttonbird dorm sleeps 14 in one room with bunk beds
  • Geake dorm sleeps 14 in one room with bunk beds.

Linen

  • Guests are required to bring their own towels, toiletries and bed linen.
  • Bed linen is required for all bunks/single beds. A minimum of a single flat (or fitted) sheet is required to be placed over the camp supplied mattress covers. Blankets or sleeping bags are also required. Pillows are provided with a camp supplied pillowcase, however guests are asked to place their own pillowslip over the camp supplied slip. BYO pillow is optional
  • Note: camp linen, pillows and doonas are provided for double and queen-sized beds.

Dining room

Guests staying in the main dormitories have access to the dining room. This area can also be booked as a day venue. 

Catering

All catering is provided onsite by our qualified chef. Self-catering is not permitted in this area.

Check-in and check-out times

The standard check-in time, Monday to Saturday, is 2pm and a check-out time of 10am. Sunday and public holidays have a check-in time of 5 pm and check-out time of 2pm. Alternative arrival and departure times may be arranged by contacting the camp directly.
